Wearing
Privacy Policy

Your wardrobe,
kept private.

Wearing helps you plan outfits, track your wardrobe, and shop with intention. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you keep over it.

01 — Collection

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to make Wearing work for you. That falls into a few clear categories.

Account

Profile & sign-in

Your name, email address, and profile photo when you create an account or sign in with Google. Authentication is handled by Supabase and Google Sign-In.

Wardrobe

Items & photos

Photos of clothing you add, plus details like category, color, and tags, and the outfits and shopping lists you build. When you add an item, the photo is processed by AI to detect its details (see AI clothing detection).

Location

Approximate location

Used only to show local weather so outfit suggestions match your day. We don’t store your location history.

Usage

Device & diagnostics

Basic app and device information to keep the app stable and diagnose problems.

02 — Purpose

How we use your information

  • Run the app. Save your wardrobe, outfits, and shopping lists, and sync them across your devices.
  • Detect clothing details. When you add an item, we use AI to automatically identify attributes such as type and color, which you can then review and edit.
  • Personalize. Suggest outfits informed by your wardrobe and local weather.
  • Authenticate. Verify it’s you and keep your account secure.
  • Improve. Understand what’s working so we can fix bugs and refine features.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use your photos or wardrobe data for advertising.

03 — AI

AI clothing detection

To save you time, Wearing can automatically detect the details of a clothing item from its photo. When you add an item, the photo you choose is sent to Google’s Gemini API, which analyzes the image and returns attributes such as garment type, color, and category. You can then review and edit these details before saving.

Only the clothing-item image you choose to add is sent for this purpose. We do not send your name, email, location, or any account or device identifiers along with it. This processing happens with your consent, which you provide in the app before any image is sent.

Google processes this image to provide the detection result and in accordance with its own terms. You can learn more about how Google handles data through the Gemini API in Google’s API terms.

04 — Sharing

Sharing & disclosure

We share data only with the service providers that help us operate Wearing, and only as needed:

  • Supabase — secure cloud storage, database, and authentication for your account and wardrobe.
  • Google (Sign-In) — to offer Sign in with Google.
  • Google Gemini API — when you add a clothing item, the item photo is sent to Google’s Gemini API to automatically detect garment attributes such as type and color. No personal or account information is sent with the image.
  • Legal & safety — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

These providers are bound to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we authorize. We do not sell your personal information.

05 — Security

Storage & security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure provided by Supabase. We use encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security so that you can only see your own data.

No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

06 — Permissions

Device permissions

Wearing asks for permissions only when a feature needs them, and you can change them anytime in your device settings.

  • Photos & camera. To add pictures of clothing to your wardrobe.
  • Location. To show local weather for outfit planning.
  • Notifications. To send reminders and updates you’ve opted into.
07 — Control

Your rights & choices

  • Access & edit. View and update your profile and wardrobe data from within the app.
  • Delete. Remove individual items or delete your account, which removes your associated data.
  • Withdraw permissions. Turn off location, photo, or notification access at any time.
  • Request a copy. Ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We honor those requests — just reach out.

08 — Retention

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we’re required to retain it for legal reasons.

09 — Children

Children’s privacy

Wearing is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll remove it.

10 — Updates

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Wearing evolves. When we make material changes, we’ll revise the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.

11 — Contact
